Blogs
Blogs are back! Whether you’re a creator sharing your travels or a small business selling basketball training— blogs are an opportunity to connect with your audience and earn their trust. You probably already know that you need a blog, but what does that actually look like? Here’s a get started guide:
Create space on your website to host your blog
Most website builders like squarespace, wix, Wordpress, framer, and webflow have blog tools built in so all you have to do is set it up.
2. Create a list of topics
Okay so let’s be real: environmental impact aside, AI is a tool that can be super helpful for brainstorming ideas. That being said, if you didn’t come up with the topics, you might have trouble finding the words to write about it (especially if you’re just starting out) so then you asking it to write an outline and before you know it, it’s writing all of the posts for you. Basically, it can be a super slippery slope and before you know it your blog that was meant to connect and earn trust is not connecting and full of less-than-true information.
So instead of reaching for your favorite AI tool to conceptualize topics, think about what kind of questions you get asked most frequently. For example we’re asked a lot what SEO is and why it matters, so we wrote a post with a breakdown of the answer we usually give. Not only do these kind of topics help boost SEO, but they also create a resource you can link to and/or send along to customers to save you time.
Long story short— think about questions you get asked a lot, things you wish you knew early on in your journey, or even your favorite topics relevant to your industry.
3. Write one post
Look at your list of topics, pick your favorite and write about it! Aim for at least 500 words, add in a picture, write an alt-tag for that picture, and publish your post! Don’t overthink it: just have fun with it, be yourself, and let it flow.
If you’re feeling intimidated, consider writing an introductory post about who you are, what you do, and why you do it. Once your first post is published, it should feel easier!
4. Get consistent
Start with one post per week. You can write each month’s posts all at once or set aside some time each week to write that weeks’ post, whatever feels most approachable to you. You can level up to 2 posts per week if/when you feel ready, but consistency is more important than volume so don’t stress about trying to do as much as possible.
